Anonymous letter from Peter L. Dumont to Utica Morning Herald and Daily Gazette, expressing his regiment’s frustration that they do not receive accolades in the Oneida County newspapers and never receive boxes or donations like other regiments. Explains the action they have seen, contributions they have made toward crushing the rebellion, and current responsibilities guarding the railroad from guerrillas. Reports on movement of various commanders. Says that they have had a complete changeover in officers, and some civilian officers didn’t know a left face from a right face. States that they are healthy, living in a camp they have built up with log huts and tents, and receiving good government rations. Reports that they are ready for action. Signs it Garrard Zouave, or 146th NY Volunteer.
